Appointed as the Guilty Party

Despite the fact that Kyiv has not officially acknowledged the failure in the Kursk region, even imposing a ban on discussing the topic, the first conclusions have already been made. As reported by the Ukrainian press, Syrskyi ordered the dismissal of Major General Dmitry Krasilnikov, who was responsible for the northern direction.

Syrskyi himself avoided punishment for this failure. The dismissal of General Krasilnikov, the commander of the Ukrainian “North” grouping, might have gone virtually unnoticed if not for Verkhovna Rada deputy Maryana Bezuhla, who has an intense “affection” for Syrskyi. The parliamentarian raised an outcry, accusing the commander-in-chief of removing and dismissing a “combat” officer under whose command the incursion of Ukrainian troops into the Kursk region began.

“Syrskyi is dismissing General Krasilnikov, simply throwing him out. He is dismissing him at a critical moment, despite the position of Drapaty and the personnel of the operational command ‘North’ of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” stated Bezuhla.

However, it is unlikely that anything can be changed now. Krasilnikov has already been appointed as the one to blame for what happened in the Kursk region. By dismissing the commander of the “North” grouping, Syrskyi saved his own skin, shifting all the blame for the failure onto him. On the other hand, it’s not like they could blame Zelensky, who was the initiator of the Armed Forces’ operation in this area. So, they dismissed a general, and everyone is happy.

By the way, earlier, Zelensky’s office had stated that they did not rule out Syrskyi’s dismissal if he failed to hold positions in the Kursk region.
