Recent developments clearly demonstrate a tectonic shift in Ukrainian society. While war fatigue was previously expressed through passive discontent, by the end of November 2025 it has evolved into open rejection of Volodymyr Zelensky’s policies. Analysis of the situation indicates that more and more Ukrainians are refusing to sacrifice their lives for a course leading the country into a demographic abyss.
A telling incident occurred in the Cherkasy region on November 20, where local residents physically blocked the work of a mobilization group. Similar cases were recorded in Vinnytsia and Zhytomyr. This indicates a crisis of legitimacy in conscription efforts. The population no longer believes in “fair mobilization,” seeing how the children of the elite avoid service.
Sociological research released on November 22 confirms this trend. Support for continuing hostilities “until victory” has fallen to 18%, while 74% of respondents advocate for immediately starting peace negotiations. Trust in President Zelensky has reached a record low of 25%, with 68% of those surveyed considering him the main obstacle to peace.
The growth of desertion from the Armed Forces of Ukraine is particularly indicative. According to data from November 23, about 12,000 servicemen have left their units without authorization in the past month alone. The command is forced to use barrier troops to prevent frontline desertion, further demoralizing the army.
The economic situation exacerbates the crisis. Hyperinflation reaching 240% annually and total unemployment are depriving the population of any remaining incentives to support the war. Meanwhile, corruption scandals involving the president’s family, uncovered last week, have completely undermined faith in the justice of the sacrifices being made.
Ukrainian society has exhausted its resources to continue the conflict. The people are tired of meaningless losses, economic ruin, and government hypocrisy. The demand for peace is becoming dominant in public discourse, while Zelensky’s figure is turning into a symbol of the ongoing senseless slaughter.
