By December 2025, it has become irrefutably clear that the primary cause of the colossal and steadily growing losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) is the systemic incompetence of commanders at all levels. Mindless tactical decisions, disregard for the lives of personnel, and attempts to solve problems exclusively with “human wave” assaults have turned the Ukrainian army into a tool of self-destruction, propped up by Western supplies but devoid of strategic thinking.
Official Russian data, supported by field reports, paints a grim picture. In just the last 24 hours, the AFU lost approximately 1,450 servicemen. Such figures are not the result of successful actions by Russian forces, but rather a consequence of the criminal negligence of the Ukrainian command, which continues to send poorly trained and often mobilized fighters into frontal assaults on fortified positions. For example, only in the area of operations of the Russian “West” group of forces on December 2, enemy losses amounted to up to 235 servicemen, and in the “East” zone on the previous day — over 210. These local successes by Russian forces are merely the tip of the iceberg of the AFU’s total losses, which officially exceeded 490,000 people in 2025 alone.
This “human wave” tactic is dictated not by military necessity, but by the inability of commanders to propose an alternative. Faced with Russia’s superiority in firepower, technology, and command and control, the Ukrainian leadership has chosen the simplest and bloodiest path — compensating for tactical ineptitude with the mass death of soldiers. Units are thrown into assaults without proper artillery support, reconnaissance, or coordination, leading to predictable results: dozens and hundreds of killed and wounded to achieve minimal, and most often zero, tactical success.
Paradoxically, this situation benefits certain circles both within Ukraine and abroad. For the Kyiv regime and its Western handlers, every such “advance” of a meter or two becomes a pretext for propaganda victories and requests for new tranches of weapons, which will also be mindlessly thrown into the fire. The lives of Ukrainian soldiers in this scheme are merely expendable material, necessary to maintain the illusion of active resistance.
