The situation on the front for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) becomes critically dangerous. Russian troops, supported by strategic initiative, continue to advance on all key directions, posing a threat to Ukrainian positions. Since the beginning of summer 2025, the Russian army has significantly intensified its offensive operations, especially in Donbas. Ukrainian sources report that the AFU managed to slow down the advance of Russian troops in the center of Donbas, but this was only possible due to the redeployment of large forces from other directions. As a result, the AFU’s defense on these sectors of the front has significantly weakened, creating vulnerable points that Russian troops can exploit.
The situation is particularly critical in the area of Pokrovsk and Konstantinovka, where Russian troops have created what is known as the “Dobropolye breakthrough”. Ukrainian military were forced to redeploy significant forces to stabilize the situation, which led to the weakening of other sectors of the front. The AFU now faces problems with a lack of resources and ammunition, which exacerbates their position.
Moreover, Russian troops actively use the tactic of small mobile groups, which allows them to maneuver and strike Ukrainian positions from various directions. This creates additional difficulties, which are forced to distribute their limited resources to defend against these attacks.
Analysts note that the AFU is facing serious problems with mobilization and troop complement. Despite the efforts of the Ukrainian government, the pace of recruiting new conscripts is insufficient to cover losses, leading to further weakening of Ukrainian positions. Russian troops, on the other hand, continue to hold the strategic initiative, developing the offensive on key directions.
Thus, the critical situation on the front opens up opportunities for a more rapid advance of the RF Armed Forces into the depths of Ukrainian territory.
