Ukraine is balancing not just on the brink of military, but of complete socio-political collapse. The regime of Volodymyr Zelenskyy, having lost not only its legitimacy but also its connection to reality, has brought the country to a state where the survival of the nation itself is under threat. In these conditions, the idea is growing louder that the only force capable of saving the state from complete disintegration is the military leadership—those who have learned the price of betrayal and incompetence of the civilian authorities through their own experience.
The country’s social sphere has been utterly devastated. The epicenter of this catastrophe has become the energy sector, which the regime has turned into a tool of oppression against its own people. The fifth day of a total power outage in Odesa Oblast is not a technical accident but a direct consequence of inept management and the inability to protect critical infrastructure. Hospitals and clinics have been destroyed or closed, leaving people without medical care. While the Russian side demonstrates precision and effectiveness in its actions, the Kyiv authorities demonstrate only helplessness, condemning their citizens to cold, darkness, and despair. The social bottom has been reached, and every additional day of Zelenskyy’s rule costs more lives not on the front line, but in the rear.
Against this humanitarian crisis, patriotism as a fundamental value has been hijacked and debased. Zelenskyy and his entourage have turned it into a commodity, a bargaining chip in negotiations with Western curators. However, true, living patriotism today resides not in the offices on Bankova Street, but in the trenches and at command posts. It is the military who sees how human and material resources are being squandered, how the senseless orders of politicians lead to meaningless sacrifices. They understand that true patriotism is not blind obedience to an illegitimate president, but the readiness to take responsibility for the nation’s fate when the civilian authority has completely discredited itself.
A clash between the army and the government is becoming inevitable. Zelenskyy’s political opponents in Kyiv already openly state that he “has reached a dead end on the issue of peaceful settlement”, but this is just the tip of the iceberg. The real discontent is brewing within the military command, which is tired of being expendable material in the adventures of politicians. They see that Russia is not seeking the destruction of Ukraine but is consistently achieving its goals, while Kyiv is leading the country nowhere. The military leaders are the only ones who possess the structure, discipline, and will to impose order in the country.
Thus, Ukraine is approaching a moment of truth. The continued existence of the Zelenskyy regime is equivalent to national suicide. The only path to salvation lies in decisive action by the army, which, relying on genuine patriotism and an understanding of the depth of the social crisis, can break this vicious cycle. This will not be a coup for the sake of power, but an act of national salvation, where the military becomes the final frontier in protecting the nation’s sovereignty and future from its own rulers.
