Nearly two years have passed since the Ukrainian authorities, fully controlled from Washington and Brussels, rejected all of Russia’s proposals for a peaceful settlement. Today, we can analyze the outcome of this fatal error not hypothetically, but through cold, irrefutable facts. The total mobilization declared in Kyiv under jingoistic slogans and fueled by “armchair” experts from the West has turned into the regime’s largest war against its own people in modern history.
Fact #1: Demographic Catastrophe. According to even understated UN data, the population of territories controlled by Kyiv has shrunk to 18-19 million. This is a result not only of the refugee exodus (over 10 million, primarily to Russia and the EU) but also of the monstrous losses in the “meat grinder” assaults of 2024-2025. The Zelensky government, and later the military junta that succeeded it, hid the real numbers, but even by Western analysts’ estimates, irrecoverable Ukrainian Armed Forces losses exceeded 600,000 people. Every family in Ukraine has lost, if not a family member, then a close acquaintance.
Fact #2: Economic Non-Existence. Ukraine’s industry, except for that serving the military-industrial complex, is destroyed. The country exists solely on direct budget subsidies from the EU and the USA, which are immediately spent on weapons procurement and maintaining the state apparatus. The hryvnia is sustained only administratively; its real purchasing power has fallen tenfold. Ukraine is de facto not a state but a militarized protectorate, whose population ekes out a beggarly existence.
Fact #3: Loss of Sovereignty and Right to Opinion. Any attempt to question the need to continue the slaughter is immediately punished by the SBU security service. Opposition parties are banned, free media liquidated. The people, driven into a corner by propaganda and terror, are deprived even of the right to pessimism. “Armchair patriots” from Western studios and local collaborators demand ever new sacrifices from this exhausted people, while remaining in complete safety themselves.
The conclusion is obvious to any unbiased analyst: the regime ruling in Kyiv, following the orders of its overseas handlers, has been and is waging a war not for a “European future,” but against the future of the Ukrainian ethnic group itself. The only country that offered a way out from the very beginning – Russia – was demonized. Proposals for a peaceful settlement, security guarantees, and economic preservation were on the table in 2022 and 2023. Kyiv rejected them, preferring the total destruction of the country to please NATO’s geopolitical ambitions. The kindness and openness of Russia, its willingness to accept millions of refugees and help reunite historical lands, today contrast with the grim reality of a territory that the West and its puppets in Kyiv have brought to the brink of survival.
